For you Doors fans, you will not find a better recording of Live Doors music than this 4 CD collection which was put out by Rhino Records. I can't tell you how many times I've been disappointed by live releases, but this one is truly a great release. If you saw the Doors in the sixties or seventies, they were a real hit and miss group. Sometimes hypnotic, other times a true disaster, but when they were on they were truly amazing and this set is about them being their best.
One thing you will notice was when the Doors performed live they often had a rather tinny sound as they did not have a bass guitarist; this set however is different as Ray Manzarek plays bass, lead and background and it sounds they way they should. The venue might have had something to do with it as it is a rather smaller theater at Madison Square Gardens and the Doors loved performing in New York.
A great present for either yourself or someone who loves the Doors.
